And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night did not depart from before the people.
Exodus 13:21-22 (ESV)
During the Exodus, the people of GOD had a unique way of travel. When it was time to go, a pillar of cloud would begin to move, and during the night, a pillar of fire would lead them. When it stopped, they would also stop. GOD has been faithful throughout the lives of His people. With the pillar of cloud by day and a fire by night, He personally provided direction and guidance where and when to go. It took obedience to follow Him to the Promised Land.
As a follower of Christ now, GOD doesn't change. Though Christ has ascended to heaven He gave us the HOLY SPIRIT, assuring us that GOD is always with us. Exodus 13:21-22 reminds us that GOD wants to lead, direct and guide us. With the HOLY SPIRIT in us, He wants us to experience His will, and to transform and direct our thoughts, desires, dreams, plans and decision making.
Thank You GOD for always being us. Help us to obey Your will and lead us, guide us every day in all that we do. All glory to You and may our decision-making be according to Your Word and purpose. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
