The Israelites left Egypt and entered the wilderness, but their hearts were still in Egypt. When life got tough, they forgot their slavery and the miracles that God performed to deliver them. They started complaining and wanting to return to Egypt. Instead of leading them straight to the Promised Land, God taught them obedience in the wilderness, where they learned to follow the pillar of clouds, which represented the presence and guidance of God.
We live in a time when Jesus has already died and rose again. When we put our faith in Jesus, we became God's sons and daughters. As His precious children, we are living 'in' the cloud itself! Let us enjoy His presence and listen to His still small voice for guidance, and ask for strength to help us completely abandon 'Egypt, where we were once under bondage, physically, emotionally, or spiritually!
Thank You, God, for Your steadfast love! Let us never forget Your wondrous works in our lives. When You set us free, we are free indeed! We want to worship You in Spirit and in truth, and bask in Your presence always! In Jesus' Name I pray!
