Hebrews 12:1 (ESV)
Hebrews refers our Christian life as a race, not a trip. A trip may be fun with visiting many places and eating various food. A race is an all-out effort from start to finish. Concentration is needed to run our race. When comparing to others, we could get discouraged and unable to accomplish the race that God has set for us. How can we finish our race? By looking to Jesus, drawing close to and imitating Him. Many people stand as a wonderful testimony to God’s faithfulness in their lives. They are called "a great cloud of witnesses”. Similarly, we can lay aside every weight and sin, and run with endurance to complete God's plans and purposes for our lives. Jesus is with us as we go, tell, and make disciples, and to live a life that reflects His Grace.
Lord, thank You for the many people of faith who bear witness that You are faithful and trustworthy. Help us to keep trusting You like this great cloud of witnesses. Give us an obedient heart to work with You , and to be a living witness to Your Truth. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN.
