As for us, we have all of these great witnesses who encircle us like clouds. So we must let go of every wound that has pierced us and the sin we so easily fall into. Then we will be able to run life's marathon race with passion and determination, for the path has been already marked out before us.
Hebrews 12:1 (TPT)
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
2 Timothy 4:7 (ESV)
Who is your “crowd of witnesses”? It can be your parents or your friends. However, the people described in Hebrew 12:1 are our witnesses. Their faithfulness is constant encouragement to us. They have run their race and won; their witness stirs us to run and win also. Our journey in life involves focus and training. We need to surrender all the things which entangles our life and endangers our relationships with God. We need to run with commitment in Christ and by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. We will stumble if we look away from Christ. We should be running solely for Christ, not our own glory or achievements. We must always keep our focus on Christ alone.
Lord Jesus, help us to strip off those things that entangle us and help us to look to Jesus alone and run the race with endurance. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
