Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Since I was reborn (spiritually), I have been very privileged to have many spiritual leaders, mentors and those spiritually more mature than myself to guide, encourage and advise me in my spiritual journey. But most of all, I thank the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit who have nurtured me through studying the scriptures and through prayers. Looking back, it has indeed been like running a race; when I keep my focus on Jesus and strip away all that hinders me, I would mature spiritually. When acting conversely to this, I would stagnate. Let us continue to spur one another on to keep our focus on Him in running this race.
Heavenly Father, help us to focus on You and You alone, so that we may be strengthened and be able to strip off all that hinders us and that we may run the race ahead of us victoriously. In Jesus name, Amen!
