I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud and your sins like mist; return to me, for I have redeemed you.
Isaiah 44:22 (ESV)
1 John 1:9 says that “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” It’s such a comfort to know that when God forgives us of our sins, He blots out our transgressions like a cloud and our sins like mist. He keeps no record of our sins and gives us a clean slate because Christ bore all our sins and shame on the cross.
Just as cloudy skies block the sun, so do our sins separate us from God and hinder our prayers. Let us all turn away from sin and turn to God. He calls us to return to Him for He has redeemed us..
Father God, thank You for Your great mercy and grace. Help us to to be quick to confess when we sin against You. May we have a broken and contrite heart in our repentance. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
