In our daily lives, we are often told by others how we should live our lives. Advertisements telling us what items we should desire, social media and the tabloids telling us what to think. Drowning in all this noise, how do you determine who you should listen to? More importantly, how do you find joy? Paul’s message in Philippians is a simple yet powerful one. We already have an example to follow, and that is Jesus. Joy lies in obedience. While earthly distractions try to dictate how we should live, our desire should always be to think and act like Jesus. Let us not seek greatness for ourselves on this earth but instead, live with a heart to serve, and seek the greatness of God’s Kingdom, and through this we can find true joy.
Heavenly Father, in you we find joy. I pray that You will clear our minds and let us reorient our hearts so that we can focus on You and be more like You. We choose to have a heart of obedience. Humble our hearts and let us place our trust in You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
