And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?

Matthew 18:33 (ESV)

Forget or Forgive

Reflection When we ask ourselves whether we have truly forgiven those who offended or betrayed us, we may realise that we have only tried to erase their wrongs from our memory while unease and resentment still linger under the surface.

Yet, as a new believer years ago, I experienced supernatural forgiveness. During a conversation over lunch, a longtime friend suddenly stormed off. Instead of burying the hurt, God gave me the grace to write her a letter of apology, humbly asking for her forgiveness. Through that act, our friendship was restored, and I was released from the prison of unforgiveness.

Thank You, Holy Spirit for prompting me to erase my unforgiveness—not just wiping bitterness from my “hardware,” but purging it from the “iCloud” as well. I am learning I am not only called to forget, but also empowered to truly forgive. God chose not to merely forget our sins but to continually cover us with His grace, goodness, and faithfulness.
Prayer Heavenly Father, I am grateful for Your teaching on unlimited forgiveness! Help us to remove the impurities of hatred and vengeance in our heart. We are able to forgive after we are forgiven. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen!
