Reflection
I’m not a big football fan but watching the recent World Cup made it impossible to ignore the intensity of teams battling for the championship. Likewise, each of us faces a daily struggle between the flesh and the Spirit. We feel the pull of sin even as we long to live according to God’s ways.
Paul urges us to keep in step with the Spirit. I think of my children learning to walk—how I stayed close, steadying their steps so they wouldn’t stumble. God desires that same closeness with us. His Spirit guides, strengthens, and keeps us from stumbling when we remain near Him.
Walking in the Spirit means intentionally putting off the flesh and embracing a Spirit‑filled life. The Spirit empowers our daily choices, helping us move forward in the right direction. When we fail, there is no condemnation—only the invitation to rise again.
The fruit of the Spirit becomes part of our daily lives, not just an ideal. Through the Spirit’s continual renewal, we experience true freedom and lasting victory.
Prayer
Abba Father, thank You for the indwelling Spirit. Help me to abide in You daily and set my mind on the Spirit. Amen.
