Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.

Psalm 1:1-3 (ESV)

The Very Picture of Blessing

Reflection When reading Psalm 1:1-3, I feel as if I am standing in an art gallery, looking at the very portrait of a desirable and magnificent ("blessed") life. These verses describe such a life like this: someone who doesn't have to give in to corrupted or wicked advice, but is the happiest when they can access and think about God's Word day and night.

When making God the primary and ultimate counsel of our lives, every other piece of news or advice we receive can be weighed against what He says. His Word brings the very freedom and clarity we desire. The road towards this blessed life will then be clear.
Prayer Father God, we bring You our pains, aspirations, hopes, fears, feelings. No situation is beyond Your attention and wisdom to resolve. Please give us deeper revelation from Your Word and lead us away from trouble and into a life where we are truly blessed. Amen.
