Reflection
This story in 1 Kings 17 about Elijah and the widow of Zarephath is a powerful reminder of God’s faithfulness when we obey and put Him first. When Elijah instructed the widow to give him the last of her food (1 Kings 17:11, 13), she obeyed his request, choosing to trust God and His promises. As she did so, she and he and her household ate for many days. They did not lack food during the drought. When we put God first and are obedient to His Word (Matthew 6:33), we will experience His provision when in need.
Prayer
Dear Father God, thank You that everything that we have comes from you, and when we seek You, we will not lack any good thing. May we continually surrender our lives to you and choose to obey you unconditionally. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
