Reflection
Luke’s Gospel opens with angels announcing the birth of the Son of God (Luke 1:35), the heavenly firstborn wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger (Luke 2:9-14). The gospel closes with angels announcing the resurrection of the Son of Man (Luke 24:7), the firstfruits of the new creation. Mary saw the sign (John 20): an angel on each side of the vacant tomb, with the burial linens and facecloth still bearing embalming spices fit for a king (John 19:39-40), neatly laid on the tombstone, echoing the glory of the Ark and Isaiah 6:3. The New Covenant has dawned.
Even angels long to look into this unfolding mystery of salvation (1 Peter 1:12). However, only humans who believe can truly know what it means to be forgiven, saved, set free, empowered, and able to call upon Abba Father. With Christ’s return, they will be resurrected, reunited, and co-rule with Him for eternity.

King Jesus, if it was worthy for You to come to earth, then life in You is worthy to be lived each day. Thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to make us a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). Amen.
