Reflection
Pilate’s sign over Jesus on the cross declared prophetically: “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.” What sign do we place on Christ? Let us surrender our lives, our marriages, our children, our relationships, our thoughts, and every word spoken through our lips—everything in our heart that is already laid bare before Christ. Let Jesus truly reign over us, so that the sign we place upon Him is: “King of my life!”
What sign do we place over ourselves? Scripture tells us we are His royal priesthood, His holy nation, His sons and daughters. We are called to display to the lost the love of Christ—the One who gladly endured the cross for our sake. Over us, the banner is clear: “His banner over me is love.”
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for Your obedience even unto death. We confess with our mouth that You are Lord and believe in our heart that God raised You from the dead, and we are saved. Help us to listen attentively to Your voice and to walk in obedience to Your good and perfect plans for our lives, for You desire obedience, not sacrifice. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
