“For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!””

Romans 8:15 (ESV)

Free At Last!

Reflection For centuries, slavery was the default economic and social framework. Emancipation was eventually achieved and it brought more than freedom from chains; it brought the reclamation of humanity, and a transition to citizenship.

You may think slavery is a thing of the past. Today, one of the greatest forms of bondage is the fear of death. Many prolong life at all costs, obsessed with longevity.

As Christians, we do not need to fear death. We merely need to run to Jesus, who welcomes us as sons and daughters, giving us the Spirit of adoption. One of the biggest breakthroughs in my faith journey has been freedom from the fear of death. Death is a mere transition because of the hope of eternity. I look forward to meeting Jesus who will hopefully say to me, “Well done, good and faithful soldier.”

This is real and life changing. Run to Jesus. The peace and the freedom to live a purposeful life that this gives you is immeasurable.
Prayer Father, thank You for releasing us from the bondage of slavery through the death of your son, Jesus Christ. Thank You that we can now live emancipated lives as Your adopted children. Amen.
