Reflection
Every day we battle between the desires of our flesh and the fruit of the Spirit. Our flesh brings deterioration while the fruit brings multiplication and growth. When we satisfy our flesh, it is about building “my kingdom”, but when we satisfy the Spirit, it builds “His Kingdom”. Walking in the Spirit requires staying close to the Father because it takes more than our own strength and willpower, and He will give us strength and change our hearts to want to please Him.
When Elijah challenged Ahab, Elijah also wanted the people to choose their god, as they were following two gods at the same time! Christians today face temptations of multiple gods, backsliding by delaying obedience to God or even disobeying the Bible. Spiritual weakness and failure increases when you delay in obeying God. In Matthew 22:37, Jesus said “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind”. God is waiting for His people to make up their minds to follow Him wholeheartedly.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help us internalise Matthew 22:37, and to make up our mind to follow You with all our strength. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
