Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked… but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.

Psalm 1:1-2 (ESV)

Choosing the Right Path

Reflection Recently, I have been thinking about how to begin each day right. Many habits seem promising: stepping into the morning light, setting clear goals, and living with intention. Yet beneath every routine lies a deeper question: Which direction am I choosing for my life?

The opening psalms remind us that life is ultimately shaped not by circumstances, but by our choices. Psalm 1 presents two paths and no third option. Every day, we choose what will influence our thinking, capture our attention, and direct our steps.

We often seek God's blessing as something to receive, yet Psalm 1 begins with a person who has already chosen where to stand. Blessing is not merely the result of getting what we want; it is the fruit of being rooted where God wants us to be. Like a tree planted by streams of water, the blessed life flows from remaining close to Him.

The question is not whether we are choosing. We are. The question is whether, today, we will choose God's path.
Prayer Father, help us choose Your way each day. Root us deeply in Your Word, shape our desires, and lead us in Your purpose. Amen.
