Reflection
Consider this story that illustrates how easily we can mistake stewardship for ownership: David checked his investments constantly and worried about losing money. He proudly called his house, car, and savings “his”. As his wealth grew, so did his pride. He believed his success came from his own intelligence and hard work, and he quietly looked down on those who struggled. Over time, money became more than a tool. It became his security, identity, and source of confidence. Without realising it, David had made wealth his idol.
Psalm 24:1 reminds us that everything belongs to God. Our money, possessions, and lives are entrusted to us, and we are stewards, not owners. Therefore, we should manage God's resources according to His values and priorities, trusting that He will provide all we need for every good work (2 Corinthians 9:8).
Prayer
Lord, everything we have belongs to You. Give us grateful hearts, faithfulness in stewardship, and confidence in Your provision for every good work. Amen.
