If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.

2 Corinthians 1:6-7 (ESV)

Drawing Closer To God Through Suffering

Reflection Suffering is part of the Christian life. Jesus told His followers, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Always remember this truth when suffering threatens to overwhelm.

I grow most when I go through difficult times. Suffering strips me of temporal securities and forces me to dig into the Word to find peace and purpose. It is said that “when Christ is all you have, you find that Christ is all you need”.

Suffering reminds me also that this world is not my home and helps me to keep my priorities straight.
Prayer Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for always comforting us in our suffering. Please help us to see the deeper purpose when facing hardship and knowing that suffering produces endurance. Let us use the comfort we receive from You to comfort others who are suffering. In the name of Jesus.
