Reflection
Solomon’s sad story is like a mirror to me. Sometimes, when I am not careful, I may allow ungodly habits into my life—quiet compromises at work, distractions that dull my prayer life, and choices that slowly shift my priorities. Solomon’s heart gradually drifted, and the same can also happen to me: first it’s small, then it becomes normal. Before I notice, I start living with divided loyalty—appearing fine on the outside but steadily detaching on the inside.
It’s easy to rationalise: “Everyone is doing that”, or “I’ll do better next time”, Yet God sees what I’m feeding my heart. A good start does not ensure a good ending. My faithfulness at the beginning of a season does not protect me automatically. So, I need consistent boundaries: pause, pray, review my choices, and repent early—before drift becomes direction.
Prayer
Dear Lord, I desire to walk with You wholeheartedly. Guard my heart from subtle compromises and gradual drift away from You. Teach me to recognise divided loyalty before it takes root. Strengthen me with wisdom, cleanse my desires, and give me the courage to turn back quickly when I stray. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
