Reflection
Recently one of our very dear friends passed away. We had been praying for him for nearly a year. In human terms, he suffered greatly. But spiritually he grew stronger, as he shared his faith with the hospital staff. He encouraged us with his unwavering faith, as he calmly left us to meet Jesus.
What did I learn from the faith journey of this amazing man?
1. Death has lost its sting
The essence of my faith is that Jesus’ death and resurrection signify victory over death. Because of the resurrection, death is not the end but the beginning of eternal life with Jesus in heaven, truly something to look forward to. I no longer need to fear death.
2. Driven by Eternity
Knowing that I will be with Jesus in eternity means I should live differently now. Obedience to His teachings is vital, as my daily choices will determine my eternal rewards. I realise that not everyone who does the will of the Father will enter heaven.
Prayer
Father, thank You that we do not come into an empty end. Because Jesus has been raised, we will not perish after we die but will enter heaven joyfully.
