Reflection
We all struggle with different desires that can be difficult to overcome, such as lust, anger, gossip, fear, worry, and greed. Pride, however, is often seen as the root of all sin, because it leads us to elevate our own desires above God’s Word, our families, and our communities. By relying on the Holy Spirit, we can overcome pride. He transforms our hearts, shifts our focus from ourselves to God, and gives us the strength to choose humility over pride.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You that in Christ Jesus there is no condemnation, and that Your Spirit sets us free from the power of sin and death. Help us to walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Strengthen our minds in the battle against sinful desires and fill us with Your joy and peace. By Your Spirit, change our hearts, shift our focus to You, and give us the power to live humbly and faithfully. Amen.
