Reflection
King Solomon wisely requested for a discerning heart to govern his people. Yet over time, the gift was overshadowed by undiscerning, fleshly desires that led to pagan practices and moral disorder. As a result, the kingdom gradually degenerated.
The Church was born when believers gathered in unity and were baptised with the fire of the Holy Spirit. Attacks and counterfeits arose but the Church was guarded by the disciples through spiritual discernment, sound teaching, and uncompromising devotion.
In Philippians 1:9-10, apostle Paul prayed for his first-planted Gentile church to not simply love more, but that their love would abound in the knowledge of God’s Word, His way, character and wisdom, and that discerning insight with truth and purity will not be compromised.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, as we pray for the holy fire of revival, purify and prepare the Body of Christ with divine discernment, wisdom and boldness to minister the love of Christ without compromise, even in times of testing, pressure and rise of counterfeit teachings. Guard us to discern with love, keep us from being critical and cynical. Let Your gifts flow out of overflow and not human meddling, as the day of Christ is ushered in. Amen.
