Reflection
When God forgave us through His Son, Jesus Christ, He completely cancelled our record of sins. He did so by grace—unconditionally, without limit, and willingly. He kept no backup of records to pull out against us when we fail to behave.
Forgiving others in the same way is a challenge for us. We tend to believe that others deserve punishment for what they've done, and we wish them harm before we release them. In doing so, we forget the Lord's gracious forgiveness toward us. Unforgiveness always brings unhappiness and bitterness—toxins that harm both our spiritual and physical health. But forgiving others keeps us on the right path, within God's good plan for our lives.
Prayer
Father God, You are a gracious God, full of compassion and slow to anger. We bow before You and humble ourselves, for we have sinned against You through our unforgiveness toward others. I choose to release forgiveness to them, just as You forgave me. I ask You to bless their lives with joy and peace at home, and with favour and provision in their workplace. In Jesus' name, Amen.
