Reflection
God tore the kingdom from the hand of Solomon and gave ten tribes to Jeroboam. Why would God do that? The scriptures are very clear about the reason. Solomon didn’t put his heart on the things of God. His actions followed the intention of his heart. He did not keep His commandments. His kingdom was divided; only 2 tribes remained. Solomon started well but did not finish well. Romans 15:4 says that whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures, we might have hope.
Prayer
Father God, we are told to guard our hearts so that we do not sin against you. We ask for grace to be able to guard our hearts. It is our responsibility. We desire to finish well. Amen!
