Personal encounters with death have often challenged my faith. Serving in a palliative ward, losing my mother after years of her struggling with a serious stroke, and mourning a friend’s teenage daughter dying in a kayaking accident have left me grieved and overwhelmed. In such moments, grief and fear clouded my faith as if my confidence in Jesus had been shaken by my emotions. Like Mary Magdalene, I was searching for answers in the wrong places, weeping over loss instead of clinging to the hope Jesus offers.
To cope with the reality of death, I am learning to shift my focus towards God’s resurrection power and to actively trust in Jesus’ promise of eternal life. Jesus is the triumphant King who has conquered death; this truth gives me courage even when life feels fragile.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus has defeated death. We proclaim Your divine purpose in Jesus’ resurrection! Help us always to behold and believe in Your power and promises. In Jesus’ victorious name we pray, Amen!
