Reflection When Rehoboam took the throne after Solomon, he made a disastrous choice: he tried to prove he was the boss. Instead of listening to wise advice, he increased the people’s workload just to show his power. His ego became the false king, and the united kingdom broke into two.

This story hits close to home. Unity — whether in a team, a family, or a community — is fragile. It only takes one person, putting their own pride above the common good for everything to fall apart. And honestly, that “one person” can easily be me. My ego loves to take the throne. It tells me I am right, others are wrong, and I do not need to answer anyone. Humanity often fights humility.

But Jesus offers a better way. When I let the true King take His place in my life, my ego naturally steps down. His presence helps me see my blind spots. His wisdom softens my decisions. His grace reminds me that everything I have comes from Him, not from my own strength.
