But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

Galatians 5:16 (ESV)

If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.

Galatians 5:25 (ESV)

Walk by the Spirit

Reflection Scripture says“walk” by the Spirit! Don’t “sit” or “lie down” with our flesh; it is ours to rule and we have authority and responsibility over it. Don’t “run”  ahead of God, or manufacture “fake” fruit that make us look transformed on the outside. Only the fruit of the Spirit honours God. Accept the transforming power of the gospel.

Walking is a process, whether fast or slow. So is being in step with the Spirit. Currently, Christian culture honours instant miracles much more than the process of transformation. But both are the work of God, none greater than the other. The fruit of the Spirit is as miraculous as the gifts of the Spirit. In the end, we are judged by our fruit, not gifts.

Freedom is not found at the end, but in the process. It is to follow the Spirit’s pace, fast or slow. And where the Spirit is, there is freedom.
Prayer Father God, fix my heart, restore my spirit, and prune me. Change me however You want. And give me patience, endurance, and a heart of obedience. Grow the fruit of the Spirit in me. Lead me deeper into understanding Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
