Reflection
The widow’s willingness to share her last meal with the prophet Elijah had demonstrated her sacrificial generosity and her active, courageous faith. Her radical obedience to the prophet brought God’s miraculous provision to her family and the prophet. The result of her obedience was that God miraculously ensures her supply never runs dry. The lessons we can learn from this passage is to have faith over fear, and to trust God’s promises in spite of hopelessness in life.
Matthew 6:26-27 says, “Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?”

Father, You are Jehovah Jireh, our Provider indeed. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
