Reflection
When compliments shower upon you for a job well done or a promotion, what is your first reaction? Do you pat yourself on the back and say, "well done," or do you humbly give glory to God?
Satan’s ultimate weapon to pull us down is pride. Pride is the worship of self; at the very centre of "pride," "sin," and "Lucifer" is the letter "I".
Jesus showed us the best example of how to respond. When He called His disciples, He didn’t boast of His abilities; instead, He told them to submit to His Lordship and deny themselves. When people marvelled at His doings, He humbly mirrored only what His Father did. Let us follow His example, always letting Him be the centre of our lives, acknowledging His Lordship, and being good stewards of what He has put in our charge. That is the ultimate antidote against a prideful life.
Prayer
Dear Jesus, help us to always focus ourselves on You and You alone. You are our Lord and Saviour. May our lives shine for You, and may all glory be due unto You. In Your name we pray, Amen.
