Reflection
Forgiveness is life’s most difficult challenge, requiring us to replace pride with humility. We forgive because we were purchased by Christ’s blood, receiving a forgiveness that was complete and final. As Ephesians 4:32 (ESV) commands: "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you."
Forgiving is a spiritual necessity. Jesus warns in Mark 11:25 that we must forgive while praying so that our Father may also forgive us. By "wiping the slate clean," we protect our hearts from the poison of bitterness and prevent our prayers from being hindered. We are called to imitate Christ, who prayed for His executioners: "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." (Luke 23:34). Choosing to forgive releases us from the weight of past hurts and restores our fellowship with God.
Prayer
Father, help me and fill me with Your mercy and kindness. Grant me the strength to forgive all who have wronged me, big or small. I release my anger into Your hands. Father, I choose to forgive. Amen.
