Pilate also wrote an inscription and put it on the cross. It read, “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.” Many of the Jews read this inscription, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and it was written in Aramaic, in Latin, and in Greek.

John 19:19-20 (ESV)

The Kingship of Jesus is the Grace of God

Reflection Accepting Jesus as King in our lives means complete forgiveness. God is far greater than what the Jews, Romans, Greeks, or even His own disciples once understood. The grace of Jesus dying on the cross for everyone’s sin and His resurrection from the dead are not easy to comprehend or believe. Even though Jesus told His disciples in advance, many, like Peter and Thomas, struggled to believe until they witnessed it themselves.

God’s goodness surpasses human understanding. It is far beyond the goodness we see in people, yet it is true—it is all by grace. Good Friday is all about the goodness of God.

Inviting Jesus’ Kingship into our live is an invitation of complete forgiveness. Yes, there is something to lose, for example, our sin. However, there is more to gain: a relationship with God, from which true fullness of life flows.
Prayer Jesus, thank You for dying for me on the cross. Although I don’t deserve it, You still did it. Thank You for welcoming me back; I welcome You into my life. Amen.
