Day 258 Bible Reading: Isaiah 19-21, Galatians 2, Psalm 59 and Proverbs 23:13-14
In challenging times when we are in difficulty - may be difficult circumstances, maybe a health problem, maybe opposition from others and misunderstandings - where do we get the strength to overcome these challenges? In chapter 59 of Psalms the writer makes note of very difficult circumstances - of enemies opposing him - but his hope is in God who is his strength and fortress. In your difficulty, God will give you his strength and love as you sing praise to him. God wants you to focus on him, not the difficult circumstances.
"But I will sing of your strength; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress. O my Strength, I will sing praises to you, for you, O God, are my fortress, the God who shows me steadfast love." - Psalm 59:16-17 (ESV)
"Dear Lord, in spite of the challenging times that I am facing, I thank you that you are my strength and my fortress - my protection comes from you, my strength to handle adversity comes from you. Lord, I trust in you and your love for me. In Jesus' name, Amen."
