QUESTIONS FOR KINGDOM GROUP DISCUSSION

1. Read 2 Corinthians 12:2-10. Why does Paul initially speak about himself in the third person (“I know a man…”) when describing this magnificent vision (v. 2-5)?
2. According to verse 7, what was the specific purpose of the thorn? What was God keeping Paul from becoming?
3. If the thorn is called a “messenger of Satan,” why does Paul view it as something ultimately serving God’s purpose for his life (v. 7)?
4. Explain the spiritual paradox in verse 10: “For when I am weak, then I am strong.” How does human weakness make space for divine power?
5. The “super-apostles” of Corinth loved to brag about their credentials and spiritual experiences. How can you check your own heart to ensure you aren’t boasting in your own spiritual achievements?
6. How do you typically react when you pray repeatedly for relief and God says “No” or tells you to wait? How does Paul’s example challenge that reaction?
7. What would it look like for you to practically “delight” or find contentment in your difficulties this week so that Christ’s power can rest on you (v. 9-10)?
